What
is art really?
Is
art a masterpiece or junk that is worthy to be displayed by the garbage bin?
I
have seen elephants and monkeys do better work than some of our art community and the price
is a lot cheaper too
There
is art scattered throughout this city some are good and others you have to wonder
how the funding was secured
Most
of the big five mayoral candidates want to increase funding for the arts from $17
to $25 per capita
Considering
that Toronto has a population of more than 2.4 million people $25 per capita would
equal more than $60 million and at $17 per capita equals you are looking at $40.8
million that is almost $20 million increase.
$20
million buys a lot more affordable housing.
$20
million feeds more poor people
$20
million opens up more rehab clinics and helps more people get off the streets
$20
million converts a lot of tax grabbing to tax paying people have a better quality
of life in this great city of Toronto
I
understand that art is part of the culture scene and any city that wants to be on
the world stage should have good artists
The
way art is funded has to change
Art
funding from the city should only apply to artists that have a proven track record.
The
artists that don't have a proven track record should be funded by business and individual
donations
