More Red Light Cameras and Photo
Radar
Our
roads in this great city are unsafe to drive on because more drivers refuse to follow
the rules of the road.
More
people are getting killed on our roads.
There
is just not enough police to take care of this and our budget just won't allow for
hiring of more police officers.
Vehicles
going through red lights are more regular and more accidents occur.
Driving
faster on our roadways have increased over the years to the point of more pedestrians
being hit and killed as well as cyclists are finding that it has become dangerous
to ride on the roads.
We have
to make our streets safe for everybody to use.
Repeat
offenders the fines would double and triple and so on.
To paraphrase
a famous radio show host on Talk 640AM Mr. John Oakley, Is this a cash grab? You
better believe it is because the city needs money and why should the taxpayer be on
the hook.
After
a while paying cash for fines is a good reason for following the law.
If drivers
don't want to pay then don't break the law.
Our
children shouldn't have to die on our streets because our city government is afraid
of offending the ones that like to speed.
Photo
radar works and the province proved it when it was in operation under a previous government
where at the end of their term everybody was driving within the speed limit.
Permanent
photo radar would have a dual purpose in catching the speeders and monitoring traffic
flow on our streets so if there were problems the city would act on it faster.
