Toronto Gang Crisis
Toronto is a vibrant city that brags about their multi-culture neighborhoods.
Over the years this city has been concentrating on helping out the middle class and upper classes while leaving the lower class to fend for themselves.
This city believes that since they supply affordable housing for the poor and needy and a welfare system, this should be enough for them.
It's all about the money or lack of it.
This leads to arguments, which leads to depression and to domestic violence and to alcohol, drugs, gambling and the other vices.
This leads to divorce, single parenting and the young without adequate role models to draw from.
This leads to the young joining gangs where they have a sense of belonging and getting emotional and financial rewards as long as they have what it takes to support it in illegal activities.
Unfortunately crime has always been a lucrative venture from bootlegging in the early 1900s to drugs in modern times even with the harsh penalties that we have in today's society some people are ready to risk it all just to get rich.
Being rich brings with it power and respectability that they just could not get when they were poor.
Hollywood has made heroes out of yesterday's criminals in their movies even with a violent demise at the end.
The need for gangs would diminish if more options were given to the young and poor and needy.
Welfare is a temporary solution that has turned to a permanent one for a lot of people.
As Mayor of Toronto I would open more rehab centres for people that are on welfare and the money would come from the lawbreakers who are selling the illegal substances when they are arrested and the province will help because they are selling alcohol to people that have problems.
The people on welfare will have to go back to school to get enough education to qualify to get a good paying job.
The money would come from businesses with the incentive of a tax cut as well as other levels of government.
More people are retiring which is creating new jobs and Toronto has a lot of people on welfare, that are able to work with help and training they will break the vicious cycle of poverty and will be able to help their children to be the best that they can.
