TTC Electronic Farebox
With
the soaring cost of Toronto Transit Commission or TTC our city is looking for new
money to get our transit to meet the needs of our exploding population growth.
Toronto
is a major destination for people that are moving to Canada.
Over
the years this city has been spoiled because the province paid for a certain percentage
of our transit bill so the TTC growth and budget always counted on Ontario
for money.
One
day the province decided not to pay because they felt at the time that the city should
run their transit on their funds only and ever since then the TTC has been in crises.
There
are ways of raising the money, which are raising the property taxes or raising the
transit fares.
No one
wants to pay more property taxes and if the transit fares go up too much the people
will just use their cars creating more congestion on the roads and dramatically increasing
the greenhouse gases.
The
other way of getting more money is by running an efficient service and it just simply
can't be done if the true numbers are not available.
The
electronic farebox is the answer that would eliminate a lot of empty buses on the
routes.
The
electronic farebox can help in creating better scheduling which would put the transit
vehicle where it is really needed.
The
electronic farebox would expose fare cheaters who are the ones that drop a handful
of change in which is a lot less than the actual fares.
With
the electronic farebox the TTC would be "The Better Way"
